Introduction
|
This English-Russian Personal Correspondence Guide Book was compiled especially for
those English speakers who are seeking friendship, love or marriage in Russia or in
other Russian speaking countries and want to use their partner's native language in
correspondence. Currently, numerous international matchmaking or dating companies can
offer you only their expensive translation services. But we are happy to give you a
remarkable opportunity to create a simple letter in Russian without other people's
help for free.
The English-Russian Personal Correspondence Guide Book is extremely
helpful in writing one's personal ad or ad reply as well. Though many of Russian
ladies and gentlemen who wish to find a soul mate abroad can speak and write English,
they will really appreciate your attempts to use their native language and will pay
their special attention to your message for sure. So, it may increase the quantity of
persons who will possibly answer you.
If you already have a Russian friend or a partner,
this Personal Correspondence Guide Book may be very helpful for you too. Your special
one will really enjoy the letter from you written in her/his native language.
This real attempt to be closer to her/him will speak louder than words written in a
foreign language!

Entries presentation |
Each entry is presented in three variants: English original, Russian equivalent
written in Cyrillic, and transliteration variant written in Latin letters. To view
Russian texts correctly, please check russification of your computer.
The majority of
phrases can belong both to man and woman - those phrases are given in dark gray color
font. However, some phrases in Russian language can belong either only to man or only
to woman. You'll find such expressions in the Guide Book colored in blue and red
correspondingly. For example:
I am American. |
Я американец.
Я американка. |
ya ah-meh-ree-KA-nehts.
ya ah-meh-ree-KAHN-ka. |
The peculiarities of the Russian personal pronouns caused the necessity of mentioning two
variants of some words within a sentence: as a rule the word before a slash is related to
informal style, after a slash - to more polite, formal style. For example:
How old are you? |
Сколько тебе/вам лет?
|
Skol'ko tebe/vam let?
